On the eve of National Unity Day, which Belarus will traditionally observe on September 17th, we recall the long and thorny path of Belarusian nation-building — a journey deserving of respect through the ages. The principal milestones of that path are set out in this article, prepared in liaison with the distinguished Belarusian historian, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Education, Culture and Science of the House of Representatives of Belarus’ National Assembly, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Igor Marzalyuk.
